     Risk assessment
    • Cutting hand or fingers whilst cutting wood
    • Breathing in dust wood particles whilst cutting the timber or wood
    • Blindness caused by wood fillings

Inorder to avoid these risks we have to wear the correct PPE ,we should wear gloves to prevent cuts and we should also wear googles to prevent our eyes from timber particles that come from cuts.A gas mask is also required when using the air nailer because of the gas it releases. We are working with the Health and Safety act 1974

     Method statement
We first wear our PPE on then ,we asses the area then we remove the defected skirting board  to determine how many feet of skirting board will be required. we start on the longest wall first where we will  install the skirting board. Measure the length required and leave the uncut end longer than required. Miter the end that will be in the corner at 45 degrees. Test fit it and trim as necessary. the wall   required to join a second piece of skirting board to the first to cover the length of the wall,so we  miter both ends at 45 degrees, cutting one with the miter saw head to the left side and the second cut with the saw head to the right. The skirting board will then join with only one cut line show
we then easily  nail the skirting board to the wall studs using  the air nailer or some  finish nails and a hammer. Mitering is done on the  the outside corners at 45 degrees, coping out the back side of the skirting board to get a neat, close fit. When the fits are done we switched to wood files inorder for us to finish the trimming, taking off a little at a time until the fit is perfect,we then filled  in any line still showing with caulking around the top of the baseboard to fill any gaps caused by uneven walls .When we finish the skirting we clean the area dispose any waste then pack our tools away.

    Dear Customer

We have inspected your defected skirting area ,we had to removed  the defected area and we had to

dispose it .We then took measurements of the area that needed skirting ,then we had to cut the timber

according to our measurements and we had to cut out every end at a 22.5 degrees and place  the skirting of

the same design  that was there before .We used instant grab  adhesive to attach the timber to the wall and

we  used the wood filler to cover the gaps and spaces left on the corners , we used the air nailer to attach the

skirting and some screws . When we finished we inspected the skirting ,then we packed and cleared .
